MECHABLAST - Concept Film Website
MECHABLAST is a cinematic web concept designed as a fictional promotional experience for an imagined sci-fi film release. Inspired by mecha and Transformers-style universes, the project places users inside a high-stakes narrative through immersive visuals, motion, and pacing. The website explores how a film launch landing page can communicate tone, scale, and story without relying on traditional marketing structures. Motion, transitions, and atmosphere take center stage, creating an experience that feels closer to a teaser trailer than a conventional website. Disclaimer: This project is entirely conceptual. All references to collaborations, actors, directors, or productions are fictitious and used solely for illustrative and exploratory purposes.
Requirements, Challenges & Process
Requirements
The objective was to design a compelling landing page for a fictional sci-fi film launch, using motion and visuals to communicate narrative, mood, and a sense of scale. Rather than relying on traditional CTA-driven layouts, the experience focused on storytelling, immersion, and atmosphere, allowing users to explore the world of the film in a more cinematic and experiential way.
Challenges
A key challenge was maintaining strong cinematic impact while preserving readability and structural clarity within the UI. Motion needed to feel powerful and expressive without overwhelming the content or disrupting pacing. Additionally, the experience had to remain engaging and coherent despite deliberately moving away from conventional marketing patterns and familiar conversion flows.
Process
We provided a team consisting of:
1 Designer
The project began with layout and narrative exploration in Figma, defining a hero-centric structure that emphasized atmosphere over conversion. Motion concepts were then explored in Jitter to quickly test page flow, loading behavior, and scroll interactions.
A more refined motion iteration of the hero section was developed in After Effects, experimenting with alternative layouts and removing the main CTA to create a more informative, cinematic presentation. AI-generated visuals from MidJourney were integrated to reinforce the sci-fi tone and visual storytelling.
